Unionspace Coliving–Bangkok

The Transformation

Unionspace is a multi-functional space in Ekkamai, a sought-after area of Bangkok. The top-floor co-living space includes an open-plan living area with a kitchenette, dining table area, seating space and multiple restroom cubicles.

The layout meant the challenge was to separate, the areas while ensuring the overall space looked cohesive and flowed. I used rugs and utilised the area to allow there to be enough space while accommodating a small group of people.

The overall design was boho, inspired by areas in Thailand such as Chiang Mai. The neutral colour scheme and cosy decor made it feel homey for guests to be able to relax for as long as they want. The owner wanted me to incorporate already existing pieces of furniture which I did to ensure the project stayed on budget.

The overall effect was that the room became lighter, brighter and more functional.

After

I repainted the space and redesigned it to be more welcoming and functional with more places to sit, relax and eat. The finishing touches like throws and photos completed the room.

Before

The decor was very mismatched and for the Coliving space, hardly any guests were using it because of the lack of comfort. There wasn’t anywhere adequate to eat and the sofa area looked outdated.
